Tim Frantz, MD

Originally from Illinois, Dr. Frantz has over 25 years of general Otolaryngology experience. Before joining Lassen Medical Clinic in 2017, Dr. Frantz worked in private practice as an Otolaryngologist treating full spectrum ENT disorders in adults and children. Prior to that, he worked as a staff Otolaryngologist at Greenville Rancheria Tribal Health Clinic and Shasta Community Health Center in Redding, California.
Dr. Frantz earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from California Polytechnic University in Pomona, California. Following completion of that program, he attended The Chicago Medical School at Rosalind Franklin University, where he obtained a Doctor of Medicine degree in 1989.
Dr. Frantz spent the next five years in Oakland, California completing residencies in both General Surgery and Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center.
In addition to practicing medicine, Dr. Frantz is an accomplished author. His research on acute epiglottitis in adults was published by the prestigious Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) in 1994. Twenty years later, in 2014, Dr. Frantz published a book entitled “Hearing Loss Facts and Fiction: 7 Secrets to Better Hearing”. His book has received national attention and he has been a featured speaker on XM/Sirius “Doctor Radio” on several occasions.
Dr. Frantz is a Fellow of the American Board of Otolaryngology. He is also a member of The Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, The American Tinnitus Association, the Hearing Loss Association of America, and the American Medical Writers Association. When Dr. Frantz is not working he enjoys spending time with his wife and three grown children, running, cooking, and working on writing additional books.

In July, 2017, Dr. Frantz was commissioned as a Commander in the United States Navy Reserve, Medical Corps and currently serves as an otolaryngologist in the Navy.
